Getting “Lost” in Northern California

You are either searching for something special, or truly and utterly lost if you find yourself in Shelter Cove (otherwise known as the Lost Coast) in California. About 30 miles off of highway 1 you will find yourself in a place you can hardly believe is there. After winding through miles of forest, steep hills, and fog… just about when you are thinking to yourself “Where on Earth are we going??” , you will come out along the coast. The Lost Coast. There is little to no cell phone reception, no traffic, no stores even…just a small town on the edge of the ocean, waiting there for you to come visit and relax.

To be honest, I’m not exactly sure what drove us to visit this place. (Other than our little rental Kia) Niether of us had ever heard of it before, but something told us we would love it, and that we did.

Gas Works Park, Seattle

Seattle’s notable skyline has been recognized throughout the world ever since Tom and Meg were “Sleepless in Seattle” , and now of course because of the ever popular “Grey’s Anatomy”. US Roadtrip Travel Tips – Oregon Coastline

The US is absolutely huge and there are many options when planning a roadtrip. Lots of people drive along California’s scenic coast or take the famous Route 66 from Chicago to LA…but I regret to say that few travelers have Oregon very high on there list of places to visit. Pepe’s Cafe – Key West, Florida

If you are in Key West and looking for somewhere authentic to have some good food in a laid back Key West atmosphere, look no further than Pepe’s Cafe.  Of all my travel tips for Key West, this place is one of my favs. They have been around for over 100 years and are considered Key West’s oldest eatery. Pepe’s is one of those places where you will see regulars, those local faces that come in every day, and with good reason! The food is excellent, servers are genuine and funny, and an atmosphere you won’t find in too many places.

Big Cat Rescue, Tampa, Florida

I lived in Tampa for about 9 years, and this was one of the most interesting places I went to. If your visiting the area and have already rode all the roller coasters at Busch Gardens and are looking for something to do, you might want to consider visiting the Big Cat Rescue.  Located in the area of Citrus Park, it is home to the largest accredited rescue for wild cats. They take in cats that have been abused or mistreated and can no longer live in the wild and provide a home for them. All of their money comes from donations and visitors, so not only is it extremely interesting to see these animals up close, you are also contributing to a great cause. ( It’s quite expensive to feed these guys!)
