Europe’s largest (hidden) Waterfalls

Ok, so they are not exactly hidden, but no one here seems to have heard of this natural wonder just 2 hours from Munich or 1 1/2 hours from Salzburg. Krimml Waterfalls are located in Austria in between Innsbruck and Salzburg. The 1,200 foot (380 meter) high set of waterfalls are made up of three stages, and are quite a beautiful site. It really makes a great day trip from Munich, Innsbruck, or Salzburg.

I’m not quite sure why this isn’t more of a popular destination. I was impressed. The area around the waterfalls is beautiful in itself. You can choose a few different paths when going to see the waterfalls, there is a short 10 minute walk to the bottom or a hour hike to the top. We were a little short on time when we went so we weren’t able to walk to the top, but I will definitely be back!

As Europe’s largest waterfall, I would have to say this is definitely a hidden travel treasure and well worth the visit. We went on a beautiful summer day and it wasn’t ridiculously crowded. The falls are open from May until October and opening hours are from 9:30 until 17:00 (5:00pm)  So do yourself and your health a favor if your in the area and visit this amazing natural wonder!
