Travel Tips- Vienna’s Museums Quarter

Written By: Tonya - Apr• 26•11

I’ve been to Vienna a number of times, but last weekend I fell in love all over again. A good friend of mine invited us to meet her at the Museums Quarter for an evening drink and it turned out to be one of the best nights I’ve had in Vienna. As we walked around the corner from our hotel, we walked up some stairs only to find on the other side an enormous courtyard filled with plastic couches, cafes, restaurants, and people relaxing having a drink with their friends. It was perrrffect!

Photo Tour of Thun & Interlaken, Switzerland

Written By: Tonya - Apr• 14•11

Switzerland is a beautiful place in both winter and summer. I have had the pleasure of visiting two of its smaller towns, Thun and Interlaken a few times over the past couple of years and I am always stunned by the beauty in this area. The two cities are located at opposite ends of the Thunersee (Lake of Thun, pictured above) and even though they are quite close, they both have different things to offer visiting tourists.

The Isar River in Munich is very well known to the locals and when the sun pops out, people flock here to grill, sunbathe, swim, and hang out with friends. Munich Travel Tips- Bayerische Hof

Written By: Tonya - Apr• 04•11

I love rooftop restaurants/bars. I’ve been to some really cool ones along my travels and now I’ve been to one in Munich at the Bayerische Hof. This 5 star hotel is a little out of my budget at the moment, but they have a really cool cafe on the 7th floor that overlooks the city and is an awesome spot to get lunch or an early evening glass of wine. I’ve actually wanted to go here for a while, but always forgot to make reservations on those rare sunny days in Munich! Last Sunday though we finally went and it was well worth it.

Biergarten Season in Munich

Written By: Tonya - Mar• 25•11

Biergartens are very special to Bavaria. If you have never been to one, let me explain. They are places where there are loads of beer benches and people gather in the summer months to share dinner and a mug of beer with some good friends until late in the evening. Biergartens offer both food and drinks, but you are allowed to bring your own picnic if you wish, as long as you purchase drinks from the garden. They are always located under beautiful chestnut trees and lights are strung from tree to tree to light up the gardens as it gets dark. In the summer, it is one of my very favorite things to do here in Munich, and probably the thing I will miss most if I ever leave. (more…)

Europe Travel Ideas- Consider Slovenia

Written By: Tonya - Mar• 22•11

I have done a fair share of traveling in Western Europe, but the East is still new territory to me. Until last week I had absolutely no idea what to expect from Slovenia. I found that most of the large group I was traveling with hadn’t either. When we arrived in Ljubljana, I was very pleasantly surprised to find one of the cleanest and nicest looking cities I have visited in Europe. I have to admit, even though I didn’t know what to expect, I mistakenly thought it would be a little more dodgy. I was wrong.
