Florida Travel Tips – The Other Orlando

Written By: Tonya - Feb• 10•11

Germans and Americans alike are all very familiar with Orlando. Micky Mouse, theme parks, large hotels, and dinner theaters often come to mind when this city is mentioned. All that is great in it’s own way, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Orlando has another side, an artsy, mom and pop, cobblestone street, vintage side….a side I find much more intriguing.

Florida Travel Tips- Old Powder House Inn, St. Augustine

Written By: Tonya - Feb• 09•11

My husband and I took a trip last weekend to St. Augustine Florida, and although the weather wasn’t very cooperative, the stay at the Old Powder House Inn made our trip worth while. When visiting Florida’s oldest city, I highly recommend staying in a Bed & Breakfast to really get a feel for the area. I stumbled across this amazing little B&B online and we were both happy I did. The hospitality from owners Katie and Kal was amazing and made us feel right at home.

Written By: Tonya - Feb• 01•11

Everytime I head back to Florida from Munich, I am seriously craving some sun, saltwater, and seafood. Usually one of the very first stops when I am home is the Cortez Kitchen for a fresh blackened grouper sandwich and a beer after an awesome day at the beach. If you are looking for a locals spot with an authentic Florida vibe, you have to check this place out.

Spring in the Olympia Park, Munich, Germany

Growing up in Florida I never really encountered spring. There is just hot, and not so hot. When I moved to Munich, I realized what an amazing time of year this really is. Winters are fairly long here, and you forget how colorful things can be until around April when everything is in full bloom. Especially in the Olympia Park.

Munich Restaurants, Bar Tapas

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 25•11

Bar Tapas is by far one of my favorite places to eat in Munich. Then again I love love love Tapas. Anyone who knows me knows when it comes to food, I love to share. Tapas is perfect for that! You can order a bunch of different small appetizer style items and share between friends and everyone gets to try a little of everything. I realize this is not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like Tapas…you need to check this place out.

Munich Travel Tips – Martini Club, Ladies Night

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 24•11

If your looking for a nice little place to have drinks in Munich, you might want to try this place out. It is a cool, cozy little spot in Maxvorstadt with a very extensive drink menu. Its the only place in Europe where I’ve seen espresso martinis (yum!). They also offer a great little menu with Italian style food until 3:30 am. They are open daily from 18:00-4:00, and have a ladies night on Wednesdays where you can drink appletini’s and cosmopolitans all night long for free ;)  Nice. Its definitely worth checking out.
