Austria Travel Tips- Saalbach-Hinterglemm

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 21•11

I’ve recently spent some time in the small Austrian ski village of Saalbach-Hinterglemm, and dispite (hold on to you seats) I am not a skier or snowboarder, I really enjoyed my time there. I say this because obviously most people who go here go for one reason, and that is to ski or snowboard. I do have to say though, the town itself was adorable, the people are extremely friendly, and even though I’m not a winter sport kinda gal, I really had fun.

Gulf Coast Travel Tips- Deep Sea Fishing

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 20•11

If you are on the Gulf coast of Florida, and wanting to try out fishing (or even just looking for something to do with friends or family), you really won’t want to miss this experience. In 2009 some friends and I went Deep Sea Fishing with a local fishing tour in the area called the Cortez Kat. Captain Gary (pictured below), and his crew mate Lance really made this an incredibly fun experience. We woke up early, got to the docks around sunrise, and headed out to a special spot where the fish were biting literally every 2 minutes. It was really awesome.

Munich Cafe Tips- Aroma Kaffeebar

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 18•11

In another post on Munich Travel Tips I wrote about my favorite quaint cafes in the area, and I just had to add this one to the list. Aroma Cafe is located in the Glockenbachviertel area of Munich which is loaded with cool little spots, and this one fits right in. They offer lots of yummy sweet and savory treats and even have a little shop where they sell things from fresh ground coffee to specialty salts. It is really a cute place and I always enjoy coming here. It is normally quite busy, but worth it if you can get a spot.

Europe Travel Tips- Cinque Terre, Italy

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 18•11

If you are planning a trip to Italy, in my opinion, this should certainly be one of your stops. Cinque Terre is an area in the North of Italy, between Genoa and Pisa, made up of 5 villages that are suspended between land and sea on the cliffs above the Mediterranean. Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore (pictured above) are spread out over 10 kilometers and because of their locations these cities are not disturbed by traffic or modern expansion.  And although these cities have their similarities, each has its own distinct character.

Pepe’s Cafe – Key West, Florida

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 17•11

If you are in Key West and looking for somewhere authentic to have some good food in a laid back Key West atmosphere, look no further than Pepe’s Cafe.  Of all my travel tips for Key West, this place is one of my favs. They have been around for over 100 years and are considered Key West’s oldest eatery. Pepe’s is one of those places where you will see regulars, those local faces that come in every day, and with good reason! The food is excellent, servers are genuine and funny, and an atmosphere you won’t find in too many places.

Europe Travel Tips- San Sebastian, Spain

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 17•11

Sun, sand, surf, tapas…what more does a person need? In my opinion, not much. I suppose this is why the picturesque city of San Sebastian is one of  my very favorite spots! Located in the heart of the Basque area of Spain, this place has it all. If you are looking for a place to spend a long weekend, you might want to consider putting this one on your list. San Sebastian is one of those small/big cities in my opinion. Even though it isn’t very big (about 185,000 people live there), it really has a lot to offer. There are beautiful beaches, great surf, and a lively culture.

Surviving Munich Winters

Written By: Tonya - Jan• 14•11

In the summer Munich offers tons of things for people to do. You almost don’t have enough nice weather to fully enjoy everything this city has to offer. Unfortunately, for about 4-5 months out of the year it is quite nippy out and all those things become much less enticing! There is one thing that is fun and relaxing during those cold, grey months…Baths. Munich has quite a few very nice Bath Houses with everything from heated outdoor pools to spas and saunas. You almost forget that it is -5 degrees outside.
