If soaking up the Italian sun (and perhaps a little Italian wine) sounds good to you, you might want to add Sestri Levante to your list of places to visit. This little city set in the mountains along the Northern coast of Italy is perfect for a long relaxing weekend of eating, drinking, and enjoying the ocean.
I recently shot some photos for a cafe/restaurant right in the city center, Daylesford Organic. It’s a wonderful place to go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner if you are in the Marienplatz area. So to continue my list of great quaint cafes in Munich, this is one to not pass up.
If you happen to be looking for someplace a little special and out of the ordinary to stay at when traveling to Salzburg, look no further than the Gmachl Hotel & Spa. My husband and I stayed here last weekend for our first wedding anniversary, and while it’s certainly not a budget hotel, I believe it was worth every penny.
The English Gardens in Munich are probably one of the top things to do in this city according to every “10 things to see in Munich” list there is out there, and for good reason. It is an absolutely beautiful park with lots to see and do. With that being said, it is also one of the most crowded parks in Munich. On a sunny day it is difficult to ride your bike through the throngs of people that swarm the Southern area. While this is nice if you are into people watching and enjoy the hustle and bustle of everyone soaking up the warm weather, sometimes you might want to go where there are not sooooo many other people…and in this case, I steer you North.
In my opinion, Munich’s Zoo (Tierpark) is one of the best I’ve visited. It actually feels more like a large, beautiful park with animals in it and it’s a perfect way to end a bike ride down the Isar! They have large open areas where the animals have lots of room to roam around and rather than cages in some cases, there are natural barriers such as rivers which makes the whole place feel so much nicer. It’s a beautiful place to spend an afternoon walking around and taking in all of the amazing creatures that live there.
Since my very first visit to Munich, this place has been very special to me. It was one of the first places I went on a date with my husband and a restaurant I’ve brought many family and friends, never having a bad experience. Villa Dante is an authentic Italian restaurant where the food is always amazing and the service friendly and welcoming. (Which is sometimes difficult to find in Munich)
I have traveled to Vienna quite a few times now, and while it still holds as one of my very favorite cities, Graz certainly impressed me. I was only in Graz for 1 1/2 days but I would love to go back and see this city again. The brightly colored, intricately designed architecture is beautiful and the city itself is very inviting. I wasn’t bothered at all to wander the streets by myself after meeting a friend for coffee.
