Sarasota Travel Tips: Big Top Brewing Company

While other parts of the country have enjoyed having microbreweries in their towns for decades, Florida (like we do here in the South) is a tad slower to catch on… but no more. There are craft beers to be enjoyed here in the Sunshine State and even more importantly in my new (old) home of Sarasota / Bradenton. Yay!

Big Top Brewing Company officially opened their tasting room to the public at the beginning of April and is now serving hand crafted tasty-ness to the wonderful people living and visiting in beautiful Sarasota, Florida.

Live Music, Bradenton Florida

While Bradenton, Florida might not be the most sought after destination…it does have it’s hidden jewels. The beaches are beautiful (and there is actually parking), the people are friendly, and now to add another to that list…you can find some great live music here. Downtown consists of about 5 or 6 bars, all of which are decent, but on Sunday and Tuesday evenings, something special happens and the sounds of blues and swing come out of Corks cigar bar. You almost can’t help but be drawn in…

The Tasting Room, St. Augustine

While on a recent trip to St. Augustine, Florida, my husband and I stumbled across The Tasting Room, and both agreed this was one of the best restaurants we had ever been to. Really. Between the friendly service, amazing food, cozy atmosphere, and live music…this place is gonna be hard to top!

Florida Travel Tips – The Other Orlando

Germans and Americans alike are all very familiar with Orlando. Micky Mouse, theme parks, large hotels, and dinner theaters often come to mind when this city is mentioned. All that is great in it’s own way, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Orlando has another side, an artsy, mom and pop, cobblestone street, vintage side….a side I find much more intriguing.
