Munich Travel Tips- Bayerische Hof

I love rooftop restaurants/bars. I’ve been to some really cool ones along my travels and now I’ve been to one in Munich at the Bayerische Hof. This 5 star hotel is a little out of my budget at the moment, but they have a really cool cafe on the 7th floor that overlooks the city and is an awesome spot to get lunch or an early evening glass of wine. I’ve actually wanted to go here for a while, but always forgot to make reservations on those rare sunny days in Munich! Last Sunday though we finally went and it was well worth it.

Biergarten Season in Munich

Biergartens are very special to Bavaria. If you have never been to one, let me explain. They are places where there are loads of beer benches and people gather in the summer months to share dinner and a mug of beer with some good friends until late in the evening. Biergartens offer both food and drinks, but you are allowed to bring your own picnic if you wish, as long as you purchase drinks from the garden. They are always located under beautiful chestnut trees and lights are strung from tree to tree to light up the gardens as it gets dark. In the summer, it is one of my very favorite things to do here in Munich, and probably the thing I will miss most if I ever leave. Continue reading

Spring in the Olympia Park, Munich, Germany

Munich Restaurants, Bar Tapas

Bar Tapas is by far one of my favorite places to eat in Munich. Then again I love love love Tapas. Anyone who knows me knows when it comes to food, I love to share. Tapas is perfect for that! You can order a bunch of different small appetizer style items and share between friends and everyone gets to try a little of everything. I realize this is not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like Tapas…you need to check this place out.

Munich Cafe Tips- Aroma Kaffeebar

In another post on Munich Travel Tips I wrote about my favorite quaint cafes in the area, and I just had to add this one to the list. Aroma Cafe is located in the Glockenbachviertel area of Munich which is loaded with cool little spots, and this one fits right in. They offer lots of yummy sweet and savory treats and even have a little shop where they sell things from fresh ground coffee to specialty salts. It is really a cute place and I always enjoy coming here. It is normally quite busy, but worth it if you can get a spot.
